About us

You can find us beneath The Dome bar and restaurant on Edinburgh's famous George Street.  We were the first nightclub to open on George Street street back in 1997 and since then a lot has changed, nightclubs have come and gone and often sadly transformed into bars, housing or shops. The good news is some great bars have popped up and some of our favourites include 99 Hanover Street, Panda and Sons, Bramble, Bon Vivant and Lucky Liquor Co.  We recommend checking them out!

Since our major refurbishment in 2013 we have won eleven awards at some of the countries most biggest events including The SLTN Awards, the Scottish Entertainment Awards and the Best Bar None Awards.

There's something for everyone at Why Not with five large cocktail bars, four luxurious dance floor party booths, Edinburgh's biggest outdoor late night garden and Scotland's only full LED room.

Our Nights

Our regular events take place on Monday, Wednesday Friday and Saturday usually from 10:30pm - 3am.  We are open on other days special events such as Halloween, New Year's Eve, Bank Holidays, Christmas parties and the club is available for private hire.

Flare Mondays; Flare is Scotland's longest running student night and takes place every Monday at Why Not.  Flare opened its doors for the first time since 1999 and has been responsible for some incredible nights out over the years. Regular theme nights, great drinks promotions and some of Edinburgh's best DJs has kept Flare a first choice for students over the years.

Love Wednesdays; Love has taken over the mid week student night market and that's no surprise as they have official ties with 3/4 of Edinburgh's biggest Universities. Love Wednesdays was launched back in 2016 and has had some huge nights out with guest DJs including Sigala, Marvin Humes, James Hype and Danny Howard to name a few.

Filthy Fridays; Filthy is the new kid on the block.  Our launch night before the pandemic was one for the history books which felt a little more like New Year's Eve than a Friday night in the capital.

We've been working hard during the pandemic to make sure that the night lives up to all the hype on our reopening with the most incredible team in the city.

Miss it, miss out!

Whynot Saturdays;  During the rebranding and refurbishment in 2013 the club rebranded the Saturdays to WNS.  Whynot Saturdays quickly became the most popular night out in the capital with a great mix of both local customers and visitors. WNS also plays host to some of the best DJS and live musicians from around the world. Don't forget to get the most from your night out by booking a VIP table with queue skip and table service all night long.

You can find more information on all of our events on our Facebook page here.
